Workshop: Seniors Fighting Fraud
Date: Thursday, September 9, 2010
Time: 11:00a.m.
Location: St. Rita Apartment Community Room at Jennings Center for Older Adults
Learn how to protect yourself and your family members from fraud when state officials come to Jennings to speak about scams targeting residents of Ohio’s elder residents. Some fraudulent salespeople target assisted living residents and other older adults, selling them unbeneficial financial products or providing faulty insurance or consumer information. To help protect the southeast Cuyahoga County community, state agency representatives will present “Plan Well, Live Well: Seniors Fighting Fraud,” a workshop covering the latest scams targeting seniors, tips to fight fraud and information on insurance, investments, consumer transactions and long-term care.
The free workshop is part of a collaboration between the Governor’s office, the Ohio Attorney General’s office, the Ohio Department of Insurance, the Ohio Department of Commerce and the Ohio Department of Aging to protect older Americans.

Join us for a distance learning program with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Musuem! The history of rock and roll overlaps with some of the most turbulent times in U.S. history. In the 1960s and 1970s in particular, American society faced challenges stemming from the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights movement, and the Women’s Liberation movement. During this time many people felt that the world was a “Ball of Confusion,” as described in lyrics of the popular Temptations song. This presentation features songs from artists including Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and Jefferson Airplane, and helps students identify ways that popular musicians have used messages to question society and effect change.
