Gateway to Culture
Jennings Center for Older Adults promotes lifelong learning and cultural opportunities through our Gateway to Culture programs. Using distance learning (videoconference) technology in addition to live performances and workshops, older adults throughout southeast Cuyahoga County remain engaged and connected to rich cultural experiences. Adults served by Jennings, as well as those living in the surrounding community, benefit from a venue ideal for unique challenges faced by older adults and events modified to their unique abilities.
Gateway to Culture is made possible thanks to the generosity of the Harry K. and Emma R. Fox Charitable Foundation, as well as the generosity of Cuyahoga County residents through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. These resources make it possible for older adults to continue enjoying arts and culture in a senior-friendly venue.
As a senior friendly venue, Jennings helps individuals to overcome barriers in accessing arts and culture in traditional venues. The Jennings campus is senior-friendly, with a high level of accessibility such as free parking, wheelchair and walker accessibility, nearby restrooms and flexible seating arrangements. In addition, events are free or have very small admission or workshop fees.
Have you ever participated in distance learning through videoconference? If you’ve never seen how it works, watch this short feature in which Cuyahoga Arts and Culture highlighted Jennings’ use of the technology:
