Jennings has unveiled a new mission statement, which was developed through an intense process of input and creativity.

Our new mission statement reads: “Rooted in Catholic values, Jennings nurtures and celebrates individuals as they age, through exceptional choices and continuous innovation.”

Jennings’ goal in writing this statement was to be clear and concise while incorporating the concepts that make Jennings unique. Focus groups included staff, residents, family and board members to give their input, and more than 215 people took part. “It was an energizing challenge to work with all the ideas they shared and distill them into one simple statement!” said Jennings Director of Mission and Ministry Sister Valerie Sweeney, SND. “The team could feel the Holy Spirit guiding them throughout the process.”

Sister Valerie reflects on each phrase of the statement:

Rooted in Catholic values: This phrase captures our history and legacy as a faith-based organization. For 75 years Jennings has promoted Gospel values, based in the Catholic faith and open to all.

Jennings nurtures and celebrates individuals as they age: Nurture and celebrate are life-giving actions. They promote a feeling of compassion, care, and joy. All of us are individuals who are aging, and Jennings is here to help and support.

through exceptional choices and continuous innovation: People feel empowered when they can make choices. Jennings offers the best options possible. We continually seek out new and outstanding ways of doing things, forming partnerships and testing programs that will keep us ahead of the curve in our levels of care.

Jennings’ previous mission statement had been in use for almost twenty years. Sister Valerie stated, “We hope that our new mission statement will serve us well, long into the future. Thank YOU for the ways you help Jennings’ mission come to life each day.” If you have any comments about our new mission statement, please share them with Sister Valerie at [email protected] or 216-581-2900 ext. 2352.
