history

On this day in Jennings’ history: St. Agnes Terrace Apartments were dedicated. Built with 42 two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments of moderate to market rates, the building was made possible through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. It was named in honor of St. Agnes Parish, founded by Jennings’ namesake, Monsignor Gilbert Patrick Jennings. As we continue to carry out Monsignor Jennings’ legacy of care for the elderly and those in need, we ask God to bless us and all who call St. Agnes Terrace Apartments their home.

St. Agnes Terrace Senior Apartments

Each March, the Jennings community celebrates Founder’s Day. We honor Monsignor Gilbert Patrick Jennings, whose forward thinking, compassionate heart and planned philanthropic gift gave our organization its start in 1942. On Sunday, March 4 we gathered with staff, board members, friends, donors and Sisters of the Holy Spirit to commemorate our ministry’s 76th year. We gathered for Mass celebrated by Bishop Martin Amos, followed by a delicious brunch.

As Jennings’ President and CEO Allison Q. Salopeck stated, “Thanks to our first benefactor- a planned estate gift- for the start of something beautiful. Monsignor Jennings understood the power of philanthropy in making a difference in this world. He also understood that to have a safe and comfortable place to live is not something everyone can take for granted. He ensured that there would be a place for older adults who otherwise might not be able to afford it would have the opportunity for safety and comfort at a place called Jennings Hall.”

Thank you to the many hearts and hands that celebrated today, including staff; volunteers; musicians; concelebrants Bishop Martin Amos, Father Joe Pednekar, Father Kestutis Zemaitis and Deacon Dan Galla; and servers from Saint Ignatius High School.
